A distinctive cut of wood revealing a striking graphic grain

The Fontenille Pataud Laguiole Magnum Sommelier Corkscrew in stabilized end-grain beech combines the distinctive pattern of cross-cut wood with a professional mechanism and the excellence of traditional French cutlery.

Entirely handcrafted in Thiers, the historic heart of French cutlery, the Laguiole Magnum Sommelier Corkscrew in stabilized end-grain beech stands out through its naturally contemporary appearance. Its generous lines, balanced feel and carefully executed details make it as enjoyable to use as it is to admire.

Its sculpted handle is crafted from stabilized beech cut transversely across the direction of the wood fibres. This distinctive end-grain orientation reveals a graphic pattern of lines, markings and organic variations. Because every piece of wood has its own structure, no two corkscrews are ever perfectly identical.

The stabilization process strengthens the wood and helps preserve its appearance over time. A polished finish highlights the depth of the grain, while the curved, ergonomic shape of the handle provides a comfortable grip and encourages a natural movement during service.

Fontenille Pataud’s patented long, single-piece two-step lever allows the cork to be removed progressively with smoothness and control. The fine, tapered worm enters the cork easily without causing excessive expansion, while the Sandvik 12C27 stainless-steel foil cutter delivers a clean and precise cut.

The hand-chiselled spine of the spring and the iconic bee, forged from solid metal rather than welded, demonstrate the attention devoted to every finishing detail. Complete with a leather case, numbered certificate and presentation box, this Laguiole Magnum is a remarkable piece to give, collect or pass down to a new generation.
