This shape was developed between 1993 and 1995 through multiple tastings in the great Syrah-producing regions, where the finest producers contributed to developing the shape that best conveys the message of this grape variety.
Perfect for these grape varieties: Shiraz, Sangiovese, Côtes du Rhône, Valpolicella, Malbec, etc.
Syrah wines — Côte-Rôtie, Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage in the northern Rhône, and Australia as Shiraz — share a powerful structure, firm tannins and a spicy aromatic signature: black pepper, blackberry, violet, black olive, smoked meat, garrigue.
The Shiraz / Côtes du Rhône glass, with a wide bowl and a slightly incurved rim, concentrates that complexity while taming often dense tannins. Ideal for an elegant Côte-Rôtie as well as a more extroverted Australian Shiraz. Serve at 16–18°C.
The collection that brought grape-specific glass into the home
Launched in 1986, Riedel’s Vinum series is the first machine-blown range in which every shape is optimized for a grape. A perfect balance of tasting performance and accessible price.
The Austrian art of the wine glass since 1756.
Riedel is the Austrian house that revolutionized modern wine service by creating the first grape-specific glass. Each shape is designed to direct the wine to the optimal zone of the tongue and release the bouquet of that style.
