In 1973, in Orvieto, Claus Riedel presented the world's first gourmet glass series developed with the help of the Associazione Italiana Sommeliers (A.I.S.). The series consisted of 10 sizes. Since then the world of wine has changed radically.
Different opinions on the ideal cognac glass are as old as the drink itself. Even today, cognac is mainly served in wide tulip-shaped glasses - in spite of the disadvantages which this traditional shape has for the enjoyment of cognac.
In early 1992, a panel of Scotch whisky experts convened at Riedel's headquarters in Austria to test a range of nineteen different glass shapes.
On the basis of this first selection, Georg Riedel undertook further research with the help of master distillers in Scotland.

Harvested from a specific blend of original and hybrid Arabica growers, Arabica coffee bitters is intensely aromatic, slightly sweet and smoky, with a hint of wild berries and citrus. The coffee beans are a blend of Bourbon and other varieties, purchased through fair trade and roasted by East Van Roasters in British Columbia.
Tannic and tart berry with warm black tea and cinnamon. Notes of green cardamom, licorice, allspice, cloves and fresh citrus peels. Cranberries are grown by BC farmers.
